Our Mission
Upper Keys Legends exists to provide youth flag football programs that build character, confidence, and commitment in young athletes across Key Largo, Tavernier, and Islamorada. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit operated by Upper Keys Youth Development Corporation, our focus is simple: create a safe, structured, and positive environment where every child can grow on and off the field.
We believe sports are more than games — they are classrooms for life. Through teamwork, discipline, resilience, and responsibility, athletes learn skills that shape their futures far beyond football.
Who We Serve
Upper Keys Legends proudly serves athletes from VPK through 8th grade, offering age‑appropriate instruction, balanced teams, and a welcoming community for families throughout the Upper Keys.
Our league is designed for:
- First‑time players
- Returning athletes
- Families seeking a safe, non‑contact sport
- Kids looking to build confidence and friendships
Every child is welcome, and every child plays.
Our Nonprofit Commitment
As a nonprofit organization, every dollar we receive is reinvested directly into:
- League equipment
- Field rentals
- Coaching resources
- Community programming
- Scholarships
This ensures our programs remain affordable, accessible, and community‑driven.
Our nonprofit model allows us to put the needs of local youth at the center of our decisions. Registration fees, donations, and sponsorship support help us provide equipment, secure fields, support coaches, offer financial assistance, and develop programs that benefit children and families throughout the Upper Keys.

Our Coaching Philosophy
Upper Keys Legends is powered by trained volunteer coaches who receive guidance and support from league leadership. Our coaching approach emphasizes:

We teach athletes how to compete — and how to grow.
Safety & Structure
Flag football is a non-contact sport that allows young athletes to learn football fundamentals in an age-appropriate environment. Our league provides:
- jerseys
- flags
- all game equipment
Athletes only need:
- athletic clothing
- cleats (no metal)
- a mouthguard
Games are held at Founders Park, and evaluations take place at Key Largo Park, giving families convenient access across the Upper Keys.
Community & Family Engagement
Upper Keys Legends is built around the community we serve. Our programs depend on parents, volunteer coaches, sponsors, and local businesses working together to create positive opportunities for local youth.
