What ages can participate in Upper Keys Legends Flag Football?
o Athletes in grades VPK – 8th Grade are eligible to participate.
What i the cost?
o Cost per player will be posted prior to registration.
o Full scholarships or partial discounts are available for those who need financial assistance. Email info@upperkeyslegends.com directly for assistance.
What is included in the cost?
o We are a nonprofit organization pending 501(c)(3) approval, so all funds are reinvested into our programs, services, and mission. Cost covers uniforms, referees, and administrative overhead (insurance, field equipment, background checks…).
How many games will my child play?
o Regular season includes 10 games. Playoffs are single elimination.
What equipment will my child need?
o Players will need to provide their own cleats and mouthguards. No metal cleats allowed.
What about practices and games?
o Practices: Coaches will determine practice location, duration, and frequency. Practices can be held at Friendship Park, Key Largo Park, or Founders Park.
o Games: Each team will play two 30-minute games on Saturdays (generally double headers). Games include two 15-minute halves with a 5-minute halftime.
o VPK: Little Legends games will begin at 8:00 on Saturdays. These games will consist of four 8-minute quarters.
When does the season start and end?
o Upper Keys Legends Flag Football begins on October 31st and ends December 12th.
Are scholarships or financial assistance available?
o Yes, scholarships and discounts are available. Finances should not determine does/does not have the opportunity to participate.
How can parents get involved?
o Set a positive example for our players.
o Bring your child to practice and games.
o Volunteer to coach.
o Sponsor a team.
o Additional volunteer opportunities will be available as we approach the season.
How do you communicate schedules, updates, and weather cancellations?
o Updates will be primarily communicated to coaches for quick communication to parents. Updates will also be posted to social media.
What is the structure of your league?
o Upper Keys Legends is a 5 v 5 flag football league.
o Four age brackets: VPK, K-2, 3-5, and 6-8. Each team will have 7-10 players. Age brackets may be modified based on registration.
